Highlights - Event Profile

Yet another edition of the most awaited show of Bangladesh `6th POWER Bangladesh 2011 International Expo’ is coming up with all its grace as “2nd SOLAR Bangladesh 2011 International Expo”, scheduled from October 13 ~ 15, 2011, Bangladeshs’ premier International Exhibition on Solar Photo Voltaic Power Generation, Transmission, Energy & Technology, which will bring together specialists engaging  in the Renewable Power Engineering Industry focused on the “Talk of the World” SOLAR Energy, leading Manufacturers and Distributors / Representatives from all over the world in Bangladesh.

2nd SOLAR Bangladesh 2011 International Expo will showcase World-class Manufacturers / Suppliers from around the world from the Photovoltaic Industry. Bangladesh, seen as an emerging country in Solar PV Power Generation has a tremendous scope in the sector with a new policy in place announced by the Government of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh is suffering from acute shortage of electricity -to overcome the crisis, Government is mulling developing atomic energy and also utilizing other sources. Under the crisis, an alternative source of energy is expanding in Bangladesh.

Every month more than 30,000 Solar Home Systems (SHS) are being installed in Bangladesh in a bid to reduce greenhouse emissions and ensures sustainable development in the energy sector. Every month those solar home systems are adding one and a half MW of electricity.
The amount of investment in this energy sector in rural area per year is more than Bangladesh Taka 2500 crore. 60% of this invested in solar panel, total of which requires to be imported from outside. 25% is invested in battery and the rest 15% in small mechanical parts. Batteries and accessories are all produced in the country. In near future, the solar panel will also be produced locally.

Bangladesh is endowed with plentiful supply of renewable sources of energy. Out of the various renewable sources, solar power is effectively used. Bangladesh receives an average daily solar radiation of 4–6.5 kWh/m2. Solar photovoltaic (PV) are gaining acceptance for providing electricity to households and small business enterprises in grid remote rural areas. Under the ‘Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Development (RERED) Programme’ a total of 64,000 SHSs were installed by 2007. So far, a total of 37,000 SHSs with a capacity of about 2.5 MWp have been installed in the country, which still leaves colossal room for expansion.

Exhibiting at 2nd SOLAR Bangladesh 2011 International Expo will open your doors to the entire Industry of Bangladesh and an event you cannot afford to miss.
